Capture stunning, high-resolution planetary images with the ASI678MC USB 3.0 Color Astronomy Camera from ZWO. Equipped with a Sony IMX678 CMOS sensor, the camera achieves 8.3MP resolution with low read noise and no amp glow. It transmits data to your computer quickly, thanks to the USB 3.0 interface and DDR3 256MB cache, with a frame rate as high as 47.5 fps. The camera’s 11.27ke full well capacity allows for long exposures and helps avoid over-exposure issues.
2.1MP Sensor The ASI678MC features a 7.7 x 4.3mm back-illuminated Sony color sensor with a resolution of 3040 x 2160. The 2 pixels accommodate a full well capacity of 11.27ke. The sensor boasts a quantum efficiency of 83%. It has high sensitivity in the near-IR and, when used with an 850nm IR-pass filter or an 890 methane filter, it can capture great infrared images of Jupiter and Saturn. USB 3.0 & 256M DDR3 Memory The ASI678MC is equipped with a USB 3.0 transmission interface and a built-in 256MB DDR3 cache to ensure stable and secure data transmission. Under long exposure, it effectively avoids frame dropping and greatly reduces the glow effect caused by slow reading speed. High-Conversion Gain Mode HCG mode comes on automatically when the gain is set to 182, and it keeps readout noise as low as 0.8e while maintaining an 11-stop dynamic range. No Amp Glow Using zero-glow amp circuitry, the ASI678MC eliminates amp glowa weak infrared light source often created by traditional CMOS sensors, sometimes seen in the corners of uncalibrated images. You won’t have to worry about it, even during high-gain, long-exposure imaging.
